STEAMBOT v1.1 by Blue-Kitsune STEAMBOT v1.1 by Blue-Kitsune
I decided not to use the line work in the final image. So here it is! My months of work. It started out as a simple sketch but turned into a full picture, as what often happens to people. I still have a few tweaks here and there but I will put this project on the back burner for a while, so I thought I would just submit it.

This picture takes place in an arid land where the competition for resources is so intense people use forged robots to help them fight. Steambot was built long before it was actually used, during a time when water was plentiful. It was found and completed in a desperate attempt to acquire protection, decades later when water is much more scarce. Naturally the bot is sent out with this nameless girl to find more water, where countless hardships are encountered.

I used a few textures, a mix of my own and from other people, so let us get this list underway.

One of the Brushed metals, arm piece: [link]
Front wall texture: [link]
The rest were from pictures I had taken.

Edit v1.1 added more shadowing, blended city into environment better, more contrast and shiny fingers!
I'll keep editing it as I find things to fix and when I have time to.

Cool picture! I love robot! He’s awesome and very well drawn! The background I could think of a few ways to improve. The mounting sky line needs to be a bit lower at the moment It looks like the mounting starts directly behind the robot. The town in the background could do with some trails coming/going to it and fading out as they radiate from the city.

Another point to work on is the steam coming from the robot it could do with shadows in it. it’s not solid matter but still has shadows with in it.

Over all I think this is an awesome pic and had a really cool feel to it. I espshaly love the guy on the roof top. He’s pose is really powerful!
Thank you very much! I would have to agree that the background could use more tweaking. I'm not sure I agree the mountains should be lowered. They do look like they need to be shaded in a lighter color to show the distance, but they are huge mountains. I will look into it, though. Thank you for the suggestion! Actually, on the original sketch I had roads coming out from the city but for some reason I didn't color them. I will definitely have to do that!

The steam was on my list of things to fix for sure. I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to do it at the moment.

Thanks again!
